Ian Watson and Morgan Jones founded Ashtenne in 1989 and achieved net returns for its shareholders equivalent to an annual rate of return in excess of 20 per cent per annum. Our aim is to repeat our success in Europe. In the first two years of Hansteen we have already established a substantial and profitable portfolio in Germany, Holland, Belgium and France and are confident of continued growth.

Ashtenne grew its profits and net assets consistently from start up in 1989, and prior to sale in 2005 to Warner Estates PLC had a portfolio of 169 estates across the UK, covering over 9 million square feet of industrial space with over 620 acres of developable land.

 
Key Dates
 
2007: 58 properties acquired in 36 transactions totaling £227. Average yield on acquisition around 8%.
2006: £133 million of properties acquired in first year of trading.
2005: Hansteen launched with successful floatation on AIM raising £125 million of new capital. This was followed by a secondary placing in 2007 for an additional £70 million.
2003: Successfully completed a Pan-European sales and lease back in six countries with Rexel.
2001: Increased portfolio to £500 million, acquired properties from Enterprise PLC, Marconi, establishment of limited partnerships with Morley Fund Management, Axa Real Estates Investment Managers, and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.
2000: £173m of acquisitions including estates owned by Shell Portfolio, Creston, William Baird Portfolio, and an innovative sale and lease back with Rolls Royce PLC.
1999: Acquired The Cleveland Trust PLC.
1998: Over £40m of investment in 19 transactions.
1997: Ashtenne floated on the main London Stock Exchange in May, the group acquired £58m of new properties in 11 separate transactions.
1995: Purchased 13 industrial estates from the Welsh Development Agency.
1990: Purchased 21 industrial estates from the Scottish Development Agency.
1989: Ashtenne was founded in 1989 by Morgan Jones and Ian Watson.
